Escambia County Household Hazardous Waste + Electronics
Escambia County accepts qualifying household hazardous waste and electronics at the Perdido Landfill year-round at no charge to eligible Escambia County residents.
The County also conducts Regional Roundup collection events, and the City of Pensacola directs residents to Escambia County for HHW and electronics information.

Accepted residential materials include specified paints, household cleaners, pesticides, herbicides, solvents, gasoline, antifreeze, pool chemicals, rechargeable and lithium batteries, auto batteries, propane tanks and many consumer electronics.

Important Property-Management Limitation:
Escambia County states that its HHW program is for residential waste only and that materials from businesses are not accepted.
Residents should ordinarily self-deliver their eligible household-generated materials and comply with County residency, packaging and quantity rules.
Property management should not assume that abandoned, pooled, unidentified, maintenance-generated or management-transported hazardous materials qualify for the residential HHW program.
Contact Escambia County Waste Services before transporting those materials and use an appropriately authorized commercial waste provider when required.

City of Pensacola Collection Rule: The City identifies hazardous materials, materials requiring special handling, industrial-process waste and certain construction materials as unacceptable for ordinary City collection. Bay County Facility: Bay County operates the Steelfield Road Landfill as its principal solid-waste disposal facility.

Bay County Residential HHW Restriction:
Bay County’s HHW program accepts qualifying hazardous waste from Bay County residential customers only.
Materials should be household-generated and presented in accordance with County requirements, including original-container requirements where applicable.
The HHW facility does not accept hazardous waste from commercial businesses or commercial quantities.
Businesses and apartment operators must use an appropriate private waste-management provider for commercial hazardous waste and may contact Bay County’s Small Quantity Generator Program for compliance assistance.

Apartment Property-Management Compliance Procedure
- Identify the Generator: Determine whether the material came from an individual resident, property maintenance, renovation work, a contractor, an office operation or an unknown source.
- Do Not Consolidate Automatically: Do not combine chemicals, paint, batteries or unidentified liquids from multiple units without first confirming the lawful collection and transportation method.
- Separate Special Materials: Keep electronics, lithium batteries, fluorescent lamps, paint, chemicals, tires and appliances out of ordinary compactors and mixed dumpster loads when separate handling is required.
- Resident Education: Direct residents to the applicable county program and make clear that proof of residency, quantity limits, original containers or other program requirements may apply.

Greater Pensacola + Greater Panama City Multifamily Recycling and Solid-Waste Guidance
Northwest Florida apartment owners, regional managers and community managers: solid-waste collection rules vary substantially by municipality, county and service district. National Doorstep Pickup can support cleaner doorstep collection, resident education, recycling participation and documentation-ready operations, but a doorstep program does not replace any required municipal, franchised or privately contracted dumpster service. Off-site hauling must be performed only when authorized under the applicable local rules.
As of August 4, 2026, no express unit-triggered ordinance requiring every existing apartment property to provide recycling was identified in the reviewed sources for the markets listed below. That does not eliminate all recycling-related obligations. Florida law contains a conditional design requirement for certain new multifamily or commercial properties receiving a certificate of occupancy on or after July 1, 2012: where the local government has an established recycling program that provides receptacles and regular pickup, the development must provide adequate recycling space and an adequate receptacle. Site plans, development orders, franchise agreements and later ordinance amendments must also be checked property by property.
- Jurisdiction First: Verify whether the property is inside an incorporated city or in unincorporated Escambia, Santa Rosa or Bay County before selecting a hauler or representing a recycling option to residents.
- Required Base Service: Keep the property’s required municipal, franchised or private solid-waste account active and properly sized. Doorstep collection normally transfers tied resident waste to the property’s approved container; it does not independently authorize off-site transportation.
